What is a beef share?

A box of Banksia Springs beef

A beef share is a portion of a whole animal bought straight from the farm. Instead of a pack of mince here and a steak there, you get a mix of cuts from across the beast, vacuum-packed in meal-sized portions and ready for the freezer.

What we offer

We sell eighth and quarter beef shares from our own grass-fed and grass-finished Angus, raised on our family's farms on the Granite Belt, right on the Queensland–NSW border. No hormones, no feedlots.

  • 1/8 share: about 26 kg hanging weight
  • 1/4 share: about 52 kg hanging weight

Current prices are on each listing in Boxes & shares.

Hanging weight, explained

Shares are priced on the hanging weight: the carcass weight before it's cut up. Once the butcher has boned it out and trimmed it, you take home less than that in packed meat. That's normal for every beef share, and it's still the cheapest way to fill a freezer with grass-fed beef: on a quarter share the meat works out at around $24 to $26 a kilo.

What's in it

A spread of everything: steaks, roasts, brisket, diced beef, sausages and mince, plus bones for stock if you want them. Because it's a real animal, the exact mix and weight vary a little from share to share.

How it works

Shares depend on when we have an animal going in, so get in touch and we'll tell you when the next one is available. Everything is vacuum-packed, frozen, and collected at your pickup stop on a run day. Make sure you've got the freezer room before run day.
