We're farmers first, but a fair bit of what runs this place is software we wrote ourselves. It started because the tools we needed either didn't exist or cost a subscription we didn't want to pay. So we built them, tested them on our own jobs and paddocks, and kept the ones that earned their keep. Some are out in the world now. Here's what's running.
On the farm
- Solar Dispatch — we're off-grid. The hot water, the air-con and the freezers switch themselves on when the sun's making more power than the batteries can take, and off again before the batteries suffer. The whole rule set, dashboard and phone widget are ours. We've packaged a starter kit for other off-grid farms and will list it as a pay-what-you-want download soon. Ask us if you'd like to hear when it's out.
- Stock & scale sync — every pack our butcher labels on the scale will land in this shop's inventory automatically, and every pack sold at a market comes straight back off. That's what makes weight-band pricing possible. In build now.
On the earthmoving side
- RoadRecord — an ATO-compliant vehicle logbook that records trips on its own, one-off purchase, no subscription. Built because every serious logbook app wants a monthly fee. Try it on the web; the Play Store listing is on its way.
- Tradie Invoices — job timing and invoicing for a one-person earthmoving business: starts the clock when the machine arrives on site, stops it when it leaves, and turns the day into an invoice. Live here.
- TrueCost Pro — the real cost of owning and running a machine or vehicle, per hour and per kilometre, so a quote isn't a guess. In development.
Just for fun
- Survive the Savannah — a browser game the kids helped design. Play it.
Why it's on a meat website
Because it's the same idea. We'd rather build the thing properly and own it than rent something that half fits. If you run a farm or a small business and one of these would help, get in touch — we're happy to talk about how we use them. Farm customers hear about new releases first.
